Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

On the 14th of September we said our fairwells to our new friends from Sail Croatia and caught a bus from Split to Plitvice lakes.

Our Accommodation
The bus ride took 3 hours and dropped us at our airbnb accommodation. After checking in we headed straight to the national park to walk around the lakes and see the waterfalls.

There are several different paths you can take around the lakes. We took option H which starts with a bus ride to the top of the park followed by a 4 hour walk back down to the centre of the park where a boat was waiting to take us to the other side. The walk only took us 1.5 hours so we decided to do another route to the bottom end of the park. The park is truly amazing with crystal clear water and trickling waterfalls around every corner.

Once we walked down to the bottom waterfalls we decided to walk above them so we could get a good photo of all the waterfalls together. Unfortunately by this time the sun had gone down and we were stuck with no way to get out other than backtracking. We finally got to the main entrance by 9pm and made it in time to have dinner at one of the parks restaurants.

The following morning we caught the bus to Croatia's capital Zagreb, where we spent the night before traveling to Budapest.
